Colvend Curling Club
The curling club existed from the middle of the 19th century but sadly wound up, due to lack of support in 2015. It had a number of attractive trophies which have been passed to the Dalbeattie Museum for safekeeping. However these can be reclaimed to compete for again if somebody is willing to restart the club.
Colvend and District Badminton Club
A small but enthusiastic group play most Wednesdays in Colvend Public Hall at 6.30pm and 7.30pm all year. It is a friendly bunch and more adult players would be welcome. They are taking a break over the summer but should be back in September.
Any age can come along to learn to play badminton and youngsers are particularly welcome at the beginners sessions. It only costs £1.00 a session for children and £2.00 for adults. Spare racquets are available if required.

Colvend Colf Club
Colvend Golf Club was founded in 1905. The principal architect was Willie Fernie.
Colvend golf course was re-designed in 1985 by architect Dave Thomas. It was extended to 18 holes in May 1997. The principal architect was John Souter of GTI. The renowned golfer and TV commentator Peter Allis also had a hand in its design.
Nothing stands still, and our Centenary Project (2005) was to improve the course with adjustments to the 12th hole and with the introduction of a new 15th and 16th. These were designed in-house and the new layout opened for play in 2007.
Our significantly testing eighteen hole parkland layout is situated on the gorgeous Solway Coast, conveniently located near to Dumfries, Southerness (with its holiday villages), Castle Douglas and Dalbeattie with views over the Solway Firth to the Cumbrian Fells and, on a good day, offering a glimpse of the Isle of Man.
Some of the holes offer challenging water features, and tree lined fairways abound. We are particularly proud of our large oak and other hardwood trees, many of which are a significant feature of some of the holes.

Colvend Friendship Circle
Ladies meet for lunch once a month at a variety of local venues. During the summer we meet for lunch in the wider area and visit regional attractions. New members are welcome. For more information email Linda Edmundson at lindaedmundson@btinternet.com

They normally meet every Tuesday in Colvend Public Hall from Spring to Autumn. Everyone is welcome and tuition is available.
Royal National Lifeboat Institute
There is a lifeboat station in Kippford and a RNLI shop. They operate a D-Class Inshore Lifeboat and have an enthusiastic fundraising committe which organises local events.

Southwick Tennis Club
Situated just off the B793, north of Southwick Church. Signposted at end of road Postcode DG2 8AL
The club was founded in 1928. We have two grass courts and are open daily during the season.
The club’s normal season opens in opens in June and is open to visitors of all ages and abilities and is great for kids.
Senior Night Mondays at 6.30pm - visitors are always welcome.
Junior night - Wednesdays from 6.00pm to 7.00pm for under 14s. Junior Night is a fun evening for under 14s (and their parents) to come along and practice some tennis skills with other youngsters. An adult member will be present to help organise a few activities and make sure everyone get involved.
Annual membership: Adults £25.00, children (school age) £15.00, Senior Citizens £20.00, Family/Household £60.00
Visitors fees; Adults £5.00 per court up to 2 hours and £8.00 per court doubles. Weekly rate £25.00 per family, £15.00 per adult and £10.00 per school age child.
A charge is made for bothe Senior and Junior nights as follows: Members £1.00; non Members £2.00

Solway Yacht Club
The Solway Yacht Club was established in 1904 and is situated in the village of Kippford, on the Colvend Coast in Dumfries and Galloway.
The Solway Yacht Club's situation on the Urr estuary provides for a variety of sailing from exciting dinghy racing in the shelter of the bay to offshore racing and cruising.
The Club has a strong Cadet Training Section with RYA Qualified Instructors.
Each August, 'Kippford Week' racing has become an annual pilgrimage for many families, from all parts of the UK.
The Solway Yacht Club offers a cordial invitation to visiting sailors. However, Kippford is not really a suitable berthing area for Fin Keelers.
